Video uploaded directly to LinkedIn plays right in the feed, which usually works better than pasting a YouTube link. Here's how to schedule one, and what to check first.
Check your video first
LinkedIn's publishing API accepts:
- Length: 3 seconds to 30 minutes
- File size: up to 500 MB
- Format: MP4
- Post text: up to 3,000 characters
Square (1:1) and vertical (4:5 or 9:16) videos take up more of the feed on phones, where much of LinkedIn is read. Horizontal 16:9 works well for presentations and screen recordings.
Step by step in PostGaadi
1. Connect LinkedIn
Go to Accounts and choose Connect LinkedIn. You sign in on LinkedIn's own page and approve permission to post on your behalf. PostGaadi posts to your member profile; posting to Company Pages needs extra approval from LinkedIn.
2. Create a campaign and upload your video
Start a new campaign and drop in your MP4. PostGaadi reads its length, size and format, so you'll know straight away if it's outside LinkedIn's limits.
3. Write the post for LinkedIn
Write your main caption, then open the LinkedIn destination to tailor it. A few habits that suit LinkedIn:
- Lead with the insight, not with "Excited to share…".
- Keep paragraphs short — one or two lines each.
- Use two or three relevant hashtags rather than a long list.
- End with a question if you want comments.
4. Pick a time and schedule
Choose Schedule, pick the date and time in your time zone, and confirm. Before scheduling, PostGaadi runs a pre-flight check on every destination: the connection, the permissions LinkedIn granted, the file and the text length.
5. Let it publish
At the scheduled time, the video is uploaded to LinkedIn, processed, and posted. The destination is marked published only after LinkedIn confirms it, and you get a link to the live post.
Tips for video on LinkedIn
- Add captions or on-screen text. Many people scroll the feed with the sound off.
- Hook in the first few seconds. Show the result or state the problem immediately.
- Keep it focused. One idea per video is easier to watch and to share.
- Reply to comments early. Conversation under the post is part of what keeps it visible.
Post the same video everywhere
The video you schedule for LinkedIn can go to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other platforms in the same campaign, each with its own caption. Upload once, tailor the text, and publish everywhere you're allowed to.
